training - but, you can only make it available not manditory.

most are too proud, impatient or stuborn to take advantage of it.

IMO iEN could push the TA & trainers more on the players.

I have suggested three levels of wings be given to players that complete various training cycles in the TA.

pilot - player can takeoff/land, adjust trim for level and climbing flight, navigate - all the basic non-combat skills

aerobatic pilot - player can perform all aerobatic maneuvers - loop, roll, immelmann, split-s, chandel, wingover hammerhead, cuban 8, etc

fighter pilot - how to use his aerobatic skills in combat.

optional wings

bomber pilot - skills needed for dive bombing to heavy bombing and formation.

wingman pilot - goes through a wingman class.

incintives would been a set of virtual wings, a little icon, next to his name in all online comms - like crutch~ where the ~ = the level of wings he has achieved.

maybe a month free if he achieves his wingman pilot wings

or an id card/leather pilot's patch with his name and callsign on it.

this gives every player a tangable reward for putting the time into learning HOW to fly & fight in the virtual skies.

naturally this HAS to be well publised inside and outside of the game.

and it have the vertue of taking one of the biggest negatives, learning curves, and turnning it into a positive for the game.

Sounds good crutch.
The only question is, how to force new players to participate the training lessons.

One way could be, that the promotion to 1.st Lt will only occur, if a new player has sucessfully finished a training.
This would be a lot of organizing for the trainers and for IEN, so i am not shure if itīs really possible, but we should think about.

1 of the things you should teach these newbies is how to use lead turns against HOs...maybe then they will get it through their skulls that there's another way of playing besides HOing everything in sight :)

oh..and teach them better gunnery habits. this long distance spray is just embarrsing. i remember reading =bino='s old poem about gunnery distance when i first started. wish i could find it again :)

As long as the .50's unrealisticly reign supreme over all other ammo and out to an unrealistic D15, this will be an uphill battle I'm afraid.

I have even had zekes start firing HO at D12. I have seen some .50 equipped planes open up at D20 and hold the trigger to D2.

To add to Crutch's suggestions:

How about having a training arena where you can see and hear the hits but they do no damage. Same with bombs, tanks, etc...

Same FM and same settings as the WWII Arena or Main. You can fly and flight all you want with immediate feedback on what worked what did not. Lessen the ACM learning curve considerably.

All the best,

back in air warrior classic the training arena would record and display the hits and damage but not model it ...

i.e. the rons would fly away and you would blow up but you would have another ron in its place and still be there flying in your own fire ball ...

kind of like virtual paint ball but much more visuallly entertaining.:D
