A7V "Mephisto" set to appear

As I have had a lot of things on my plate lately, I was in communication with speijk about the A7V. I posted on the furball forums looking for a volunteer to skin the wwI german A7V for DOA. iart7 saw it and started jumping up and down shouting "ME! ME!".

I sent him a copy of the model and after some dialogue back and forth on some adjustments, he started with the skinning. While I was adjusting some things, and I hated to do it to him as he was about 90% done with the first one, I ended up remaking the model twice with the last one being a much cleaner model and the scaling to correct size within 1/10th of a foot all around. I layed out the UV's as close as I could to the original and he made some minor adjustments and got the skin done.

A HUGE <S> to iart7 as I feel he captured the look of wwI steel manufacturing and early armor construction magnificently in the skin.

So without further ado, here is the A7V modeled by me and skinned as "Mephisto" by iart7.

Oh, and then I would like to do some ballistic testing on those skins too ;)

Imagine A7V's trying to stop Opel trucks with troops from capturing a field, while F2b's are trying to bomb them, and the Dr1's desperately try to defend them.

Of course with the A7V's we could have a look at the conditions for field closure. These are arena settings, np there.

I thought some of you might want to see another skin for the A7V by Omarsr. This one is in camoflage colors and I call "Totenkopf" (my name) because totenkopf means skull and crossbones.

Hey art. looks great. I've been busy on some RL things lately but I am almost done with adding the crew members for the conning tower on the A7V. I also have the brit ones started and a couple of french. Hope to have things finished up soon, prob a week or so.

Yeah, RL can be tough.

I don't know how fast i can work on any new tank skins, RL (school year started already). I'm a teacher. I have some time, but not like i had during summer vacation. Is anyone else gonna work on tank skins?

Any word on how soon Target will put the A7V in the game? Are we talking:
a. 2 or 3 weeks
b. 2 months
c. 4 months
d. a year

How does it work? is it gonna be a "mandatory update"?

Has he given you any idea about the A7V:
a. just saw the files -- will get back to you
b. love the A7V -- working on the game code now
c. committee has to vote on it -- we're not sure
d. just get the interior crew and it's next on the list

I need to add only about a dozen more (important) rivets on the Mephisto and Wotan. Be sure to let me know before the final submission.

Do we have to wait for more tanks to be modeled before they put one in?

I think the A7V tank should be put in first as soon as humanly possible. Then add more tanks with as many skins as possible too. Variety and quantity are important for the continued interest of this great game. My opinion: don't wait for all tanks (Brit, French) to be ready. Put one in ASAP, then when others are ready, put them in. Folks are ready NOW! What do you think?

PS: Target does such a great job, so many people all over the world love this game! Politically, Target and I don't see eye to eye. But today I have to go against Bush: we need to fund research on cloning ... that way we can clone Target!!!

I agree on getting them ingame as they are ready but unfortunately, I can't do any more than submit them. I know that TARGET was going to work on the 6 I already sent but he has a big workload and now even more put in his lap. Those first 6 have 2-3 skins each ready to go (default plus at least one downloadable).

I really don't know how long it will take to get new GV's ingame. I ask on occasion and sometimes get an answer, as to how things are coming, but most often not.

Not much else I can say about it other than wait patiently.

GV's are the easiest to add because I can "fudge" the numbers. Don't have to worry about roll or lift... but as you said, I had a pretty full plate and just got handed a sampler platter on top of that before I can spend time on GVs.

"Theoretically" my work on the big project will be done on Sep. 20th. We'll see.

Is this gonna be on the plate... The turkey and ham are gone from Thanksgiving, but Christmas is coming up and there should be a great feast for that. How 'bout it Matt? A whole set of new vehicles for DOA/Flyboys, including the A7V would sure look good under the tree...

I doubt it, focusing on getting Euro versions out for our German/French/Italian and Spanish friends.

Will sit down and try to make sense of the whirlwind that was my desk after that.

WISHING FOR:
1. new weapon with cannon & multiple gunner locations to shoot from
2. anti-truck and anti-aircraft platform near villages or airport (deadly)
3. at the very least, it could be another static target to bomb
