Open for Comments:
Will the PDC accept a plane with C.A.F. on the side of this plane (http://www.iart7.com/WARBIRDS/gallery%20photos/CAF_fire%2069.jpg)?

Kidcan, what do you think...?
any Schematic drawings of the F4F-3 ? I'm starting a YELLOW/WHITE/GREEN Wildcat and want to check out details of the WING area that is different from the Wing area of the Wildcat F4F-4

Re: what do you think...?
ahhh, yes do you have information on the marking system for pre WW2 USN and marine Aircraft? Also do you have anything on how to make realistic aluminum bodies? they are alil trickier then meets theyeye as different panels are different colours it's not an over all silver plane....go to www.simmerpaintshop.com they have a everything colour wise you need. I am trying to get allkinds of stuff done and If I don't gte it to you today is Monday OK? as I am COing the S3 tomorrow, my computer crashed for some reasona dn I am uploading Warbirds through a dial up....YAY!!
I'm not sure I want to tackle the aluminum skin thing yet. I referenced a pre-war F4F-3 photo (http://www.iart7.com/WARBIRDS/gallery6f.html) which shows a Confederate Air Force plane likely before the CAF relocated to Midland, Texas. This plane from USS Ranger probably flew at airshows I might have attended at Harlingen or Brownsville in the '70s and '80s. The photo does not seem to show an alum. skin, I think because the plane could be a museum restore? but I'm not sure. I just like the idea of this colorful warbird flying off an aircraft carrier on a mission to Midway or the Philippines. (see it at the bottom of THIS (http://www.iart7.com/WARBIRDS/gallery6f.html) page)

Anybody really anxious to see this plane in PDC? It seems that Skull-1 and others were "hot" for this plane at one time:

PS: since I'm on deck, i was just online at Simmers Paintshop and noticed this downloads page:
http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/downloads.php?do=null
... notice that there is a request for TEMPLATES with a Warbirds category. there are NO entries for Warbirds, so... how about sending them some?
hey, EBO, great Reflection Maps tutorial!!!

since we have allready a post war skin (p51D) I wouldn't have any problems with a pre-war skin. but, it's just my opinion ;) :D

I have no problem with a legitimate pre-war skin - especially since it probably isn't a pre-war skin but a pre-US-in-the-war skin. ;)

I wouldn't approve of the CAF skin, though, since that's a one-off and never saw service with that specific design (meaning with the CAF name on the side). Why not just do the real pre-war design?

Will do, Webs. That's understandable. I can always make my own CAF "decal" for offline flight. Anyway, I've made the U.S. NAVY version and it's ready for voting by the PDC. I'll post it there, but for now, any other comments ... ?

The wing is mirrored, this is not a final product. I just have to reverse the 4. I plan to clean up the weathering and dirt somewhat. Good eyes, Webs.

NIce skin, but I have some comments. I always have comments. :)

1) Gun soot. Since this is a pre-US-in-the-war skin, why not remove these dirty spots entirely? This aircraft was not in combat and would afford the best in ground crew attention. It would be pristine and squeaky clean.

2) Is the wing mirrored in the mapping? One of the fours is reversed on the top wing. If that can't be helped, would it be legitimate to make this aircraft's number 41-F-1? I assume then that the wing number would become a "1", right? I'm just guessing here. I don't know that the wing 4 is related to the fuselage number.

Kidcan, this plane is 98% ready. It's being voted on and may make it to PDC.

Care to be a Test Pilot? I can send you the TGA files if you want.

PS: look closely at the photo above ... one carrier is stuck on land, the other is floating in the air.
