It was a long hard fought night for both sides as the IJ forces took up the chase against the Allies up the Burma Road. As the night started, the IJ Forces quickly rolled GVs and fighters from near by and took down Rangoon without much resistance. As the Allies withdrew from Rangoon, the Axis then started to spread their attacks to the flanks as well as up the road itself. F90, F26, both major key airbases were hit very hard, yet to the dismay of the IJ high command, neither airbase was ever closed. As the rearmost Ally convoy passed F57, they were engaged at range by IJ tanks. Many of the Ally M5s, M16s, and Opel trucks were destroyed but still some were able to get away as F57 fell to the IJ.
The tide then started to turn against the Axis. Though the right flank IJ GVs were able to capture F53, the unit sent to capture F90 were destroyed by Ally B-25Cs flying at treetop level. After they were redeployed, once again the IJ forces were turned back just at the doorstep of F90. Back on the Burma Road, two Axis GV units approached F27/F26 determined to capture the major airbase. As F27 fell, the Allies rallied. B-25s supported by AVG P-40s and RAF Buffalos defended the airbase fearlessly against IJ A6Ms, Ki43s, and G4Ms.
The Axis GV units were stalled and then slowly cut to pieces by the Ally air units. As the IJ forces regrouped further S, the Allies retook F27. The airbattle over 26/27 continued as the Axis started their march back to F27/F26. G4Ms were able to help the IJ ground units in taking F27 but once again, F26 just proved too much for the IJ forces.
The Event is declared a Ally Major Victory as the 1 main supply unit got through (by default with the Axis failure to capture F26/F27) as well as about 1/2 of the first one.
Besure to check out the actual TFB S3s. Playing this Sunday and the following next couple of Sundays. More detail at http://www.s3events.com
