Skins "rules"

This may sound dumb and ignorant, which it is but...

Why is it that the PDC must approve the skins etc...? It's not like others can see it so what's the harm of flying a red baron esque 109 or something? If the argument is about making cons easier to see thus giving people an edge that doesn't really work cuz you can simply load non theatre specific skins, ie. using a malta skin while flying in an ETO map etc...

because ,lets say , i made a skin that was solid whit and used it, i could find you against any terrain except the clouds......

You can already do that, just use skins from contrasting ETO's, like the Malta skin in an ETO scenario I had mentioned. So what else?

Nothing else imho. You are right. It`s possible to use the Malta skins in Europ. brown to green gives a nice contrats :)

maybe think a step further: *if* there is someday an option in the game viewing multiple skins do you really want to see fantasy skins? if you want to fly pink ponys with teddy bears on it you can do it offline all day long... ;) :D
(<-- btw, somebody really asked me if I can paint him a skin with a teddy bear on it... (no kidding) ...guess my answer. ;) )

If that were ever a reality, and my guess is it could be quite a ways into the future, the PDC censoring could always make a comeback. Till then I doubt most folks would want fantasy paints but rather perhaps personalized historically based skins to make their rides more personal.

It would be cool to be able to put personalized artwork into a "myskins" directory. these would be.
1. Squadron Insignias that go on specific areas of the cowl or fuse
2. Special Personalized "nose art" like pinups of Brittney Spears, nude
3. Pilot Faces of anyone we want, but not political figures (no Bill Clinton)
4. Pilot Costumes ... See Rules*

* rules won't allow:
... Ronald McDonald clothes
... nose or tongue rings
... vulgar nudes, skeletons, the invisible woman or Alec Baldwin
... male pilots wearing bikini swimsuits or tight thongs
* rules will allow
... earings on males only if costume is a pirate
... any type of female pilot
... characters of popular sci-fi movies
... any Disney or Blazing Saddles character

Right now, I'm painting a 109 with a bright shiny red spinner that shines
in the night sky. It will lead a 109 squadron guiding a crimson B24 filled
with shiny boxes instead of bombs and piloted by a fat pilot in a Red &
White Suit. It will be ready in a few more hours and will be called Santa Con 2006.

PS: I just had a thought ... how about a SCREENSHOT GALLERY that has a showing of all our favorite home-made planeskins. Good, Bad, Ugly -- all of 'em. There are a lot of folks, I'm sure, that have made .tga planeskin files from time to time. How about it? i have one with "the Phantom of the Opera" pilot face and "V For Vendetta" pilot.

I have the 109G6R6, just waiting for someone to turn it into an Avia S-199.

And the Spit is something I stopped working on when I realized I'd have to compromise realism to get the skin to map.

I remember that 109, I like it and my unwanted opinion is that folks should just PRETEND it's a Avia and vote it in. Is it 1024x?

I also had another (dumb for you, brilliant for me) idea:

PDC directory for historical skins online
SKINS directory for homemade skins in offline
PDC2 directory for fantasy or other skins
