View Full Version : What happened to .toggleroads?

(Reposted and condensed from WB BBS)

I have this line in my fly2.cfg file:

.toggleroads 0

In the past, that has always served to turn roads off when I fly. Tonight, I noticed that the .toggleroads 0 would always toggle the roads, i.e. if roads were off, the command would turn roads on, and vice versa.

Did something change?

My command used to automatically turn roads off whenever I launched a plane. Now, it's a toggle regardless of the value ("0" or "1") that the variable is set to.

0 used to turn roads off.

1 used to turn roads on.

That's much simpler and less confusing than a macro or remembering to type it in manually every time I want to take off. I'm already creaking along on my old Mac. I can't afford to be running extra software.

The difference is its a set variable that gets saved now.

You only have to do it once, take it out of your fly2.cfg. Do it once (or not) depending on if you're roads are on or not. And it should STAY off until your prefs get overwritten or you reinstall.

At least... that's the theory.

Ah, OK.

Think about making it a check box in the Video setting GUI, so it's less arcane for something that can provide a fairly significant boost to frame rate.

Great idea, Webs: check box in the Video setting GUI

Any other .dot commands that should be added to the GUI?
How about allowing true mouse control like it used to be without the RED BOX? Why cripple the game for folks that still don't have a joystick. Or who just want to demo the game to someone on a laptop. Perhaps a computer vendor like Best Buy would like to demo WB to customers, but can't because they don't have joysticks connected to all their CPUs.

Was there a good reason to cripple mouse control?

Ive noticed that if I change my z-buffer it will reset my JS pitch to default instead of 100% where I had it..never used to:confused:

I've experienced the pitch switch too, but have narrowed down what the culprit is...

The only way I can re-create the pitch to revert to default settings is if I close the window instead of clicking 'Save Changes.'

If I click the X, most of the time, the settings will revert to default.
