Just curious, how many folks still use Warbirds with Lo-Res planes? Is this a good forum to ask? Also, would a poll questionnaire be acceptable? If you don't know anyone using Lo-Res planeskins, make an educated guess why. And why are any folks sticking with LR? Comments please ...

Also, could someone please ask in Alt-Games Warbirds and TotalSims?

I usually go low res because I am always trying to squeak out some FPS and figured low res can't hurt. I do high res if I am taking fancy screen shots offline. Online, I never get close enough to a plane to notice difference between high/low except maybe on the runway.

hi,

i only uses Hires Art since years, got around 70 Fps, now i updated my System to a C2D E6400 with a ati 1950 and 2 GB. i pulled everything up to maximum detail, got 1280*1024 as resolution and i never go below 150 frames. And its not very expencive to get these numbers. i spend around 750 € for the new machine. which means around 1050 US $.

so i think we shoul only go for Hires Art, because the WB Engine should be used to bring the best out whats possible today to let new Players stay. The lores Skin let the Sim looks realy outdated. And i would like to see some more new names!

I agree with you Dhyran... and that's what I was hoping to get at. At this time, it may be best for the game to start dropping Lo-Res art and keep pushing for top quality in all areas. Just my opinion, plus it simplifies the job of getting new skins in the game. ;)

Still wanting a lot more input on this topic. Anyone able to get input from other forums?

I'm in high res 24/7... so if there's an issue with how something looks in low res... I wouldn't know about it. :)

Under settings, video, Texture size... set it to no limit. You'll have high res art on everything.

What I really meant was high res downloaded skins (from PDC (http://www.pdc.warbirdsiii.com/index.php?pdc_area=aircraft_skins) download site that lists 99% of the planes as available in high res or low res). In all, it's about 1+gigabytes. The low res skins do not take up as much space, of course, but I'm mostly thinking about low res: "why have 'em at all?"

Just my musings... The poll chart is going in the right direction, but it's important to have a lot more input.

Matt, is it possible to have a download counter for each planeskin from the skins server? It would be nice to have the info from 1998 or whenever it first started, but if not, starting this year, like:

nah, just wishing it were built in. don't bother (keep working on the tanks).

PS: You mean you did the PDC web page? That is ONE AWESOME FINE piece of HTML or XML program! Especially the editing part.

It's NOT bad HTML - it works. It IS bad standards support, but that's another matter.

As for Res - I used Lo-res as I'm still using a 7 year old system that I'm attempting to squeeze the last little bit of fps from.

Then again, I've flown about 6 times in the last year (and none at all since December), so I'm sure there will be people who will say I don't get a vote.

Yah, well. What I need is an editor that takes my php code and scrubs the stupidity out of it. :D

Rehashing the Lo-Res question:

It seems that some very few folks use Lo-Res planes. Understandable reasons for that, but ...

Do you Lo-Res people DOWNLOAD Lo-Res skins? Probably not. Probably you use default Lo-Res graphics that are built into the game.

TARGET: Should I continue to make Lo-Res VFC files for the PDC? How about a note such as: Lo-Res download available upon request

Thanks,

Art
