MALTA

This just in from Dan "HOTSEAT" Neault, "Kent started on the Malta terrain, and after 2 weeks I decided he was goofing off, so I completed it myself.

Well after 3 days off just getting pissed off, I admitted we have “issues” with our system.

The Sat data for Malta is full of errors, do to large rocks, reefs, tides, urban development, etc.

We tried to correct the data with simple tools Vor and I developed over a year ago. It has become painfully clear we need much more developed tools.

I have since got said tools working, the result of which is as follows:

-Fast terrain generation
-Fantasy Terrain can now do developed, in fact it’s easy
-Less (maybe none) elevation anomalies (pyramids)
-Small rivers / streams can be added
-No need to “flatten” large areas of terrain for fields. We can now level very small area’s, on a per runway bases.
-Ridges for roads / tracks can be curved into mountains areas
-Underwater coastal areas can be detailed to high precision, so ships and subs will need approach using proper routes
-Sat data of different resolutions can be combined.
-Addition detail can be added quick.
-Were having fun"
